This was pretty funny.
Vox writer David Roberts made some very accurate characterizations regarding the ugliness of rural America which were nevertheless deeply tone-deaf as part of a thread he wrote on Twitter recently.

Vox reporters, from my experience, are often lampooned by the right-wing as being out of touch coastal elites obsessed with censoring conservatives. Simultaneously they are critiqued by the left-wing as neo-liberal protectors of the corporate status quo. Roberts’ tweets played directly into the negative views many hold towards Vox.
Although we should be honest about what’s wrong with our country, we shouldn’t single out particular areas for ridicule without first acknowledging the many, many problems in our own communities.
